Helmores Lane

Christchurch

Across the road from Hagley Park, this private tennis pavilion was designed as much for the hours after a match as for the game itself. French doors open straight onto the court, so play, conversation and a long afternoon at the bar sit together in one generous room.

At its centre is an oval bar, faced in backlit stone and framed in dark oak joinery, with an oxblood leather rail finished in studs. Deep green walls, tufted leather club chairs, a candle chandelier and trophies lined up behind the bar give the space the easy confidence of an old members' clubhouse.

Underfoot, Bordeaux Oak ties the scheme together. Its rich, warm tone holds its own against the stone and leather, while the natural grain and knots come alive as low sun moves through the glazing across the afternoon. A room made for entertaining, built to be enjoyed for decades.
