This is where most schemes go wrong, and it is never for lack of taste. It is that nobody is holding the whole picture. That is the job we have taken on.

A floor is the largest surface in the house and it sets the tone for everything that lands on top of it. Get it right and the rest of the scheme has somewhere to start. Get it in isolation and you spend the next six months fighting it.

Our interior designers put every box together by hand, after a conversation about your house and your light. Nothing in the box is generic, and nothing in it is a guess.

A short call
One of our interior designers phones you. Twenty minutes on the rooms, the light, the joinery you already have and the budget you are working to. This is the part a website cannot do.
The box arrives
Collated by hand in the studio from our own oak and the samples we hold from the partners we work with. Every piece in it was chosen for your project, with a note explaining why.
The scheme settles
Live with it for a week. Move it around the house. Then come to a studio, or call, and we will resolve the last decision with you. The $10 comes off your flooring order.

- What is a Marchand concept box?
- A box of samples that carries a whole scheme rather than one floor. It holds Marchand oak flooring and wall board samples in the mood you have chosen, and beside them the carpet, cladding, stone, cabinetry and fabric tones our interior designers would set with that floor. Each box is collated by hand in our studio after a short call about your house, so no two are the same. It costs $10, which is credited against your flooring order, and delivery within New Zealand is free.
- Is the scheme guide a quote?
- No. It is a guide to start the conversation and shape the concept. Marchand oak flooring and wall boards are shown at our current supply rates. Carpet, cladding, stone, cabinetry and window dressings are shown as typical New Zealand ranges drawn from published cost guides, and the real figures are settled with you and your builder once we have talked through the project.
- Do I need to have chosen a floor first?
- No. Choose the mood you are drawn to and our interior designers will help you settle the floor and everything around it. If you already have a Marchand colour in mind, tell us on the call and the box is built around it.
- Who chooses what goes in the box?
- One of our interior designers, after a twenty-minute call about the rooms, the light, the joinery you already have and the budget you are working to. The box is drawn from the samples we hold in the studio from the partners we work with, chosen for your project and your level of finish rather than from a standard kit.
- Can architects, interior designers and builders use the service?
- Yes, at no charge to the practice. Brief the box from the form on this page with the floor and the finishes already chosen, and we match the rest from the studio and send it to your office or straight to the client. For interior designers the scheme stays yours: we match to the direction you set and do not put forward a scheme of our own unless you ask.
- Where do you deliver?
- Anywhere in New Zealand, free. Concept boxes and samples are the only things that ship from the website; flooring itself is quoted per project.

The same service, briefed from a desk rather than ordered from a product page, and at no charge to the practice. We enable the scheme you have in mind; we do not replace it.
Architects
When one architect saw the service before launch, the reaction was about time: the hours their junior designers spend each week driving around town matching veneer, carpet and cladding samples to a floor for a client, then doing it again when the client changes their mind. Brief us once and that round happens in our studio instead.
Interior designers
The scheme is yours. You set the palette and the direction; we hold the samples. Send us the floor and the finishes you have already chosen, and we match the tones you are still deciding from what we hold, coordinated to the oak, and send it as one box under your name. We do not put forward a scheme of our own unless you ask us to.
Builders and developers
One box for the selections meeting: floor, wall board, cladding, cabinetry and stone tones together, so the client sees the house rather than a stack of samples. It shortens the selections round, and the decisions hold, because they were made as a set.
Brief a concept box
Tell us the floor and the finishes you have already chosen. We match the rest from the samples we hold in the studio and send it as one box, to your office or straight to the client. No charge to the practice.
