McArthur Avenue

In St Heliers, this family home was reworked around a single material decision. Marron Oak runs through the hallway, living and dining spaces in long, wide boards, giving the house one continuous floor from the front door to the garden.

Marron is a warm mid-brown European oak, deeper than a natural oak yet softer than the darker tones in the range. Here it bridges crisp white walls and pale stone benchtops with a kitchen in dark timber-grain cabinetry. Ochre velvet, striped linen drapery and a hand-woven rug draw out its warmth, while natural knots and open grain keep the floor from ever reading as flat colour.

The result is calm, warm and quietly confident: a floor made for everyday living, chosen to wear in rather than wear out.

‘Using the beautiful Marron Oak by Marchand gave us warmth, texture and quality on the floor to form the foundation of our build. We’re so glad we found you at Residium.’
