Carters Road, Ashburton — hand-scraped Chocolat Aged Oak flooring against blackened steel, glass and stone

Dark and Moody

Deep, low-light tones for rooms with strong architecture. Smoked and stained oak that holds its depth against black joinery and dark cladding.

Every colour here can be matched across cabinetry and cladding, including cedar, and worked back to the Colorsteel already chosen for the roof. Book a consultation, in the studio or online, and we will build a sample box around your project.

Dark oak flooring in New Zealand

Lune, Chocolat, Bordeaux and Noir Bandsawn. Deep smoked grey, rich chocolate, dark warm brown and a black bandsawn texture.

Because the oak is smoked before it is coloured, the depth sits in the timber rather than on it, so the floor reads soft instead of flat. These colours suit black joinery, schist, dark stone and low winter light, and they are the most forgiving of everyday wear. Noir Bandsawn is a wall and ceiling board only.
