Privacy policy
Last updated: 29 September 2026
This policy explains how Marchand Limited collects, uses, shares and protects personal information through marchandonline.co.nz, our studios and our advertising. We follow the Privacy Act 2020.
Who we are
Marchand Limited, NZBN 9429047485891, 149 Victoria Street, Christchurch 8013. Questions about privacy go to our Privacy Officer at info@marchandonline.co.nz
What we collect
- What you tell us. Your name, email, phone, postal address, project location, your role (homeowner, architect, designer or builder) and anything you write about your project. This comes from enquiry forms, concept box and trade briefs, the scheme guide, consultation bookings, sample orders, newsletter sign-ups, and conversations with our team in person, by phone or by email.
- Order details. What you order, where it is sent and how it was paid for. Payments are processed by Shopify. We never see or store your full card details.
- How you use the site. Pages viewed, the site or advertisement that brought you here, your device, browser and approximate location. This is collected with cookies and similar technologies, described below.
How we use it
- To answer your enquiry, send samples and concept boxes, prepare quotations and supply your project.
- To call you before a concept box is put together, so it is built around your house and budget.
- To keep in touch about Marchand, where you have agreed to hear from us. Every email includes a way to unsubscribe.
- To understand which pages, campaigns and advertisements bring people to us, so we spend our marketing budget well.
- To show Marchand advertising to people who have visited our site, and to people similar to them.
- To keep the site secure and meet our legal obligations.
Cookies, analytics and advertising
We use the following services on this site. Each sets cookies or uses similar technology, and each handles information under its own privacy policy.
- Shopify runs the website and checkout, and records how the site is used.
- HubSpot is our customer database. It records the pages you visit so that, when you send an enquiry, we can see what you were looking at and reply more usefully.
- Google (Google Ads, Google Merchant Center and Google Analytics) measures visits and the enquiries, bookings and sample orders that follow a Google advertisement, and helps Google show our advertising to relevant people.
- Meta (Facebook and Instagram) does the same for advertising on Facebook and Instagram, through the Meta Pixel and Meta's Conversions API.
When you send an enquiry, book a consultation or place an order, we may share your email address and phone number with Google and Meta in hashed form. Hashing converts them into a code that cannot be read back. It lets those platforms confirm that an enquiry followed one of our advertisements without us handing over your details. We do not sell personal information.
You can control this. Block or clear cookies in your browser settings, manage the advertising Google shows you at adssettings.google.com, manage Meta advertising in your Facebook or Instagram ad preferences, and opt out of Google Analytics at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. The site still works if you do.
Who we share it with
Only with the people and services needed to look after you:
- the services named above, which process information on our behalf;
- couriers and freight companies, to deliver samples and materials;
- installers, builders, designers or trade partners, where you ask us to connect you or it is needed for your project;
- our professional advisers, and authorities where the law requires it.
Where it is stored
Our service providers store information outside New Zealand, including in Australia and the United States. Before we use a provider we take reasonable steps to make sure it protects personal information to a standard comparable to the Privacy Act 2020.
How long we keep it
Only as long as we need it: to finish your project, to honour warranty and trade obligations, and to meet tax and accounting rules. Information we no longer need is deleted or de-identified.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. You can also ask us to delete it, or to stop contacting you, at any time. Email info@marchandonline.co.nz. We will respond within 20 working days, and there is no charge.
If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, tell us first and we will try to put it right. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
Security
We protect your information with access controls and reputable, secure service providers. No system is perfectly secure, so please do not send card details or other sensitive information by email.
Children
This site is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
We will update this policy when our practices change. The version published here is the current one, and the date at the top shows when it last changed.
