What Auckland does to a timber floor
Auckland is humid, and humidity is what moves a wide board. Summer sits high and long, winter never really dries out, and a floor laid at the wrong moisture content will tell you about it within a year.
Most Auckland work we see is on concrete slab, where we recommend a vapour barrier and a moisture reading before anything is glued. On villa and bungalow renovations the questions are different again: subfloor ventilation, and whether a 240mm board suits the proportions of the room or whether herringbone is the better answer.
