Marchand began with a quiet rebellion. Our founders watched quality fall while the price rose. Wear layers thinned. Boards narrowed. Specifications quietly softened, until a floor became something you replaced rather than something you kept.
Rather than accept it, they went and sourced the oak themselves. Then they redrew the board.
Everything about this floor was decided by people who have laid one.

A board drawn for the site
2.2 metres, optimised for a standard 1 to 1.1 metre stair tread. Cut one board in half and you have matched tread and riser, with almost nothing left over. Up to 40% less timber on a staircase, fewer joins, less time on site.
No supplier arrives at that dimension by accident. You arrive at it by having wrapped a stair yourself.

6mm of oak on a 20mm engineered board
Sanded back four or five times across its life. That is the difference between a floor that lasts fifteen years and one that lasts sixty.

Oak wall panelling, half the width of the floor board
The wall and ceiling board is 120mm, half the width of the floor plank. On a vertical plane a narrower board reads as rhythm rather than mass, and the shadow line does the work.
