Oak wall panelling in New Zealand
Wooden wall panelling has moved from feature wall to whole room, and what it is made of now matters more than the profile. Our boards are European oak on an engineered core, milled at half the width of the floor plank on a 12mm board, in the same colours as the flooring.
Wooden wall panelling in solid oak, not MDF or PVC
Ours is a 12mm board with a solid European oak face, tongue and groove, laid plank by plank in the same way a floor is laid.
It is the same oak, the same colour which is what allows a room to be resolved in one material rather than three that approximate each other.
Timber wall panelling as an alternative to cedar
Most interior timber linings in New Zealand are cedar or a cedar-look product, chosen for the look rather than the performance. Our wall board is the same oak as the flooring, a lining can run into a floor without a change in colour or grain.
Ceiling panelling, flat and raked
The same board lines a ceiling. Ceilings are calculated on plan area divided by the cosine of the pitch, with 10% wastage on a flat ceiling and 15% recommended on a raked one. Boards are fixed with adhesive.
Specifying walls and ceiling boards
Wall board is taken off by length rather than area, with a 10% wasteage allowance. Boxes cover 3.456 square metres. Independent moisture testing supports an Alternative Solution for internal moisture.
