Lead Times, Stock and Delivery

We want site delivery of Marchand European Oak to be delivered smoothly.

Stock held in New Zealand

All Marchand stock flooring, wall and ceiling boards are held at our central SI warehouse, ready for delivery to projects throughout New Zealand. Holding our engineered European oak products in one central location gives us access to the capacity of New Zealand’s nationwide freight network and allows us to make use of backloading logistics, trucks already travelling to destinations across the country.

We’ve found this is the most efficient and often the fastest way to get Marchand oak flooring, wall and ceiling boards from our warehouse to site, whether your project is in Auckland, Wellington, Queenstown, Wanaka or elsewhere in New Zealand. Rather than splitting stock between regional warehouses, our Christchurch hub gives us a single, well-stocked distribution point and the flexibility to match each order with the most efficient available freight route.

For projects that can be supplied from our New Zealand stock, orders can be dispatched promptly once confirmed and paid, helping keep construction programmes moving and reducing the long lead times associated with indent-only imported timber flooring.

Indent orders

We really try to hold stock of every SKU you see on our website but for products, colours or quantities not currently available from our NZ stock, Marchand offers indent ordering across our European oak flooring, wall and ceiling board ranges. Allow approximately 16 weeks from order confirmation to arrival in New Zealand for indent orders. We recommend confirming indent orders early in the project programme, particularly for larger residential and commercial projects, to ensure your selected Marchand product is available when required on site. Once your order arrives at our warehouse, we coordinate nationwide freight to get it to your project anywhere in New Zealand as efficiently as possible. Flooring is heavy: a pack of 2.11m² weighs 28kg, so a 150m² house is roughly two tonnes. We ship by pallet on a freight service to a street address with truck access.

How delivery dates are managed

When an order is confirmed, we ask for a desired delivery date. If a container slips, which happens to every importer from time to time, we tell you as soon as we know, with the new date and the reason. If a programme is tight, say so at the outset and we will look at what can be supplied from stock, or split the delivery so laying can start.

Before the floor arrives

The building should be closed in and dry, the slab tested, and the space at the temperature and humidity it will live at. The boards then need 48 hours in the room before laying, or 48 to 72 hours where there is underfloor heating. The installation guide and underfloor heating page set this out.

Frequently asked questions

Does Marchand hold flooring in stock in New Zealand?

Yes we try to hold every SKU you see on our website, every single day.

How long does an indent order take?

16 Weeks

When should I order flooring for a new build?

Confirm colour and quantity when the roof goes on (or before). That leaves time for an indent order if one is needed and for acclimatisation on site.

Can Marchand supply large commercial volumes?

Yes, by indent against the project programme. Tell us the quantity and the date the floor is needed and we will plan the container around it.

Is freight included?

Samples are always free. We do pass on the delivery cost.

What happens if a delivery is delayed?

We tell you as soon as we know, with the new date and the reason, and look at supplying from stock or splitting the delivery if the programme is tight.
