Marchand FAQs

What makes your engineered oak flooring luxurious?

Marchand engineered oak blends classic natural beauty with modern construction and finishing. Our planks feature one of the thickest natural oak wear layers available in New Zealand, offering 6mm of European Oak on a 14mm Eucalyptus and Black Poplar plywood core. With a generous 240mm width, the boards create a striking visual impact. We highlight the character of natural oak through a curated range of colours and hand-scraped textures, allowing oak interiors to complement any architectural style or design vision.

Can you supply different oak tones and textures beyond what is shown on your website?

Yes. We can assist in sourcing specific colours or finishes that do not appear in our standard range. Please contact us to discuss your requirements. Minimum order quantities may apply depending on the request.

Where can I install luxury engineered oak flooring?

Our engineered oak flooring brings warmth and elegance to kitchens, living areas, hallways, and bedrooms. It is durable, stable, and suitable for most interior spaces. We do not recommend installing oak flooring inside bathrooms due to high moisture levels.

Why is your European Oak designed specifically for the New Zealand market?

Our flooring is finished with nine coats of German UV-cured lacquer, creating a resilient surface that offers improved scratch resistance, UV stability, and ease of maintenance. This finish has been selected to suit New Zealand’s varied climate conditions and the expectations of modern living.

Is your flooring compliant with E3/AS1?

Marchand engineered oak flooring complies as an alternative solution for kitchens and laundries with sanitary fixtures and appliances when installed according to our guidelines, meeting the requirements of E3/AS1 Amendment 7. We strongly advise against installing our flooring in bathrooms. The moisture environment can affect performance and may void our product warranty.

What are the benefits of luxury engineered oak flooring?

Engineered oak flooring provides durability, stability, and timeless aesthetic appeal. Its layered construction offers resistance to moisture changes and reduces the risk of warping, making it suitable for varied environments such as kitchens and basements. The natural beauty of oak allows you to select from a wide range of colours and textures to complement any interior style. High-quality engineered oak can enhance property value and delivers long-term performance. It also requires minimal maintenance and can be refinished to refresh the appearance over time.

How do I care for luxury engineered oak flooring?

We provide a full aftercare guide with every installation. Regular vacuuming, light mopping, maintaining a stable indoor climate, and protecting the floor from excessive moisture will help maintain its beauty. Felt pads on furniture and avoiding harsh cleaners will also extend its lifespan. Please refer to our Aftercare Care Guide above.

Which glue and primer do you recommend?

We recommend Bona R848T Elastic Adhesive for glue and Ardex PU 30 Rapid as the primer and moisture barrier. These products provide strong adhesion and protection suited to our engineered European oak boards.

I’m a builder or handy person. Can I install Marchand flooring?

Yes. Many builders and handy people install our flooring. Please make sure you follow our installation guide above, which outlines subfloor preparation, adhesive application, board placement, and finishing methods to achieve a high-quality result and maintain warranty coverage.

Can I install Marchand flooring over underfloor heating? Are there any performance issues?

Yes. Our engineered European oak is compatible with underfloor heating when installed according to our guidelines. Please refer to our underfloor heating guide above for details on system commissioning, temperature limits, and installation methods. When followed correctly, the flooring performs without issue.

What are your pack sizes?

Each pack of 20/6mm European oak flooring contains 2.11 square meters.
Each pack of 12/1.2mm wall and ceiling boards contains 2.304 square meters.
