The Watford Street Residence in Christchurch is a refined contemporary home designed by Mooi Design, showcasing Marchand European Oak flooring throughout the main living spaces. The interior architecture is intentionally calm and light-filled, allowing material quality and proportion to define the home’s character.
Soft sheer curtains filter daylight across the wide European oak boards, creating a subtle play of light and shadow that enhances the natural grain of the timber. The flooring establishes a seamless visual connection between kitchen, dining, and living areas, reinforcing a sense of spatial flow and cohesion.
In the kitchen, warm timber cabinetry and understated stone surfaces sit comfortably against the light natural oak flooring, allowing the timber floor to ground the space with warmth and texture. Marchand’s engineered European oak was selected for its wide board format, natural tonal variation, and high-performance lacquer system, making it suitable for everyday residential use while retaining a refined, architectural aesthetic.
